Question:
Jesus said more than once that asking in His Name was vital to receiving from God......my question is this: Is asking in the name of "Christ" the same as asking in His Name - or is asking in "Jesus' Name" different from asking in "Christ's Name".

I hear people, very well known people, pray "in Christ's Name," and I want to know if that is correct Biblically. Christ is a title, of course, but can it also be His Name when used alone? Jeanne
Answer:
Jeanne, I know this is a BIG question for a lot of people and misunderstood by most. In this context, "name" means authority. Asking in Jesus' name, etc., means to request in the authority that one has in Jesus or in God. If one wants to get real technical, the name of God is YHWH and, today, nobody really knows how it is pronounced.
